The VU-koor is the student choir of the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Our reperotry consist of a mix of classical pieces and modern pieces, from well known and less well known composers.

We want everyone to be able to enjoy the fun of singing, and therefore we do not have auditions. Everyone is welcome!

One of the advantages of our choir is that you get to know people. We organize several activities during the year: every project we have a choir weekend somewhere outside of Amsterdam, and we sometimes go out together for dinner or a drink. Furthermore our projects span only half a year, so it will fit perfectly students  who are in Amsterdam for less than a year.

There are often international students in the choir. You don't have to speak Dutch to join us: our director can switch to English, though normally that isn't necessary (if you can count in Dutch, and you learn fast enough, you can understand the most important part of rehearsals). Our next concerts will be 27th May in the Groentemarktkerk in Haarlem, and 28th May in the Waalse Kerk in Amsterdam. We will sing The Nun's Priest's Tale by Gordon Jacob.

In September 2009 we will start a new project: Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. Open rehearsals are the 5th, the 12th and the 19th of September.
